"Away Dogs" have been profitable

As the intensity goes up a notch in the race for baseball's second season, there are some surprising trends bettors should take note of as they are making their selections in Major League Baseball.
Road teams are giving the term "home-field advantage" a bad name as over the past seven days, the away clubs have a record of 52-41 straight up for a winning percentage of 55.91%, as opposed to home teams whose winning percentage is 44.09%.
Away underdogs are also flourishing down the stretch with a straight-up record of 35-26 with a winning percentage of an amazing 57.38%. When measured against the spread, road teams are even better as they hold an outstanding record of 60-33 for a winning percentage of 64.52%. Underdogs on the road take these trends to the next level with a record of 43-18, which equates to a 70.49% winning percentage.
As for pitchers to keep an eye on as the race for the Cy Young Awards heats up, the defending champions are stepping up their games to retain their crowns. Minnesota's Johan Santana has won his last three decisions and has 24 strikeouts over his past two starts. In the National League, Arizona's Brandon Webb had his scoreless streak ended at 42 innings in his last start, but the fourth-year pitcher has won his last six starts while leading the league in innings pitched and complete games. Keep these pitchers in mind while making your futures betting selections.
